Warner Gash

Warner J. Gash was among the older volunteers to join the Army Air Force in July 1945. As a gunner and armorer, he arrived on Titian Island with the 483rd Bomb Squadron, with the 20th Air Force. He served with a special unit to launch atomic bombs on two Japanese cities in August 1945. He and others discharged between 1925 and 1948 were awarded a “ruptured duck” lapel pin.
